When you're grieving

Following the death of a loved one it is natural to spend time grieving your loss. It is a time of emotional highs and lows that can grip some of us tighter than others. At Lyndahl Funeral Home and Cremation Services we provide the families we serve with care and support from the moment they call us to well after the funeral ends. We also have a number of free grief support materials and a list of area support groups available to further assist those dealing with loss and separation.

The National Funeral Directors Association also suggests the following ways to handle the pain of grief:

  • Get support from a relative, friend, neighbor, or spiritual leader. They can listen, without judging, and provide you with whatever support you need.
  • Join a support group. It can be very therapeutic to be with people who have had a similar loss.
  • Express your feelings. Confide in a trusted friend or write in a journal.
  • Take care of yourself. Eat balanced, nutritious meals. Get plenty of rest. Find an exercise or activity you enjoy and do it regularly.
  • Find outside help when necessary. There are counselors and therapists specially trained in ways to help you cope with your grief.
