Claire Malchow



Claire Malchow, 72, Suamico, passed unexpectedly to eternal life Friday evening, April 25, 2008. She was born on Dec. 5, 1935 in Suamico to Marie (Finnel) and the late Matt Boerschinger. On July 31, 1954, she married Vernon Malchow at St. Benedict Catholic Church. Claire co-owned and operated Malchow Bus Service with her husband for many years. She was a loving wife, mom and grandma, serving as a wonderful role model. Claire was a gentle and loving soul who saw the good in everyone. She was very active in her church, serving on Parish Council and as a Eucharistic Minister. She was a longtime member of the Altar Society, Diocesan Catholic Women and Catholic Foresters. Claire was known by many for her famous apple pies at the annual parish picnic, and always saved one for her special nephew, Ken LaPlante. She was also very active in scouting, having started as a den mother and later serving as the head trainer for the Nicolet Area Council. In 1974, she received the Silver Fawn Award for outstanding service. Claire had a love of gardening and wildlife. Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Vern; two sons and daughters-in-law: Jan and Lynn Malchow, Green Bay, Bert and Debbie Malchow, Suamico; one daughter and son-in-law: Julie and Dave Zeman, Wauwatosa; three grandchildren: Chad (special friend, Shelby), Dylan and Katie; her mother, Marie Boerschinger; one brother and sister-in-law: Max and Barb Boerschinger, Suamico; mother-in-law: Ethel “Nana” Malchow; sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Eileen and Gordon Olson, Suamico; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including her loving companion, Trixie (her cat). In addition to her father, Claire was preceded in death by her father-in-law: Gordon “Pa” Malchow; and one brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Ed and Joyce Malchow. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at Lyndahl Funeral Home, where a parish wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 3370 Deerfield Ave. West, with the Rev. Gary J. Dantinne officiating. Entombment in Allouez Chapel Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. Claire’s family would like to thank Dr. Francis E. Lee and the staffs of St. Mary’s Hospital ER and St. Vincent Hospital ICU for the care provided.
