Mary L. Demeny, age 74, of Abrams, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, July 20, 2017. She was born in Ottawa, Kansas on December 25, 1942, to the late Allan and Beulah (Coombes) Bishop. She was united in marriage with Eugene Demeny on October 12, 1957 in Ottawa, Kansas. In her free time, Mary enjoyed crocheting, painting, talking on the phone, Facebook, traveling, boating, and going to the off-road races. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Mary is survived by the love of her life, Eugene; children, Michael (Lori); John (Dawn); Don (Amy); and Marc (Denise); grandchildren, Tyler, Jordan, Josh, Ashley, Cole, Drew, Dakota, and Harper; and son-in-law, Mark Thompson.
Mary was preceded in death by her daughter, Marilyn Thompson; grandson, Dylan Thompson; and father and mother-in-law, Adolph and Rose Demeny.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at Lyndahl Funeral Home, 1350 Lombardi Ave., from 4:00 p.m. until the time of funeral service at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of floral expressions, a memorial fund has been established in Mary's name.

Mary was the most down-to-earth, loving and jovial person I've ever met. My compassion for the family is very deep and I have you all in my prayers. I lost my life partner in June and empathize with your grief.

Don's mom was the best. Whenever she saw me she treated me like I was part of her family. The support she gave her family and the off-road community was unmeasurable. She will be missed.
