Aili Paque Obituary

 

 Aili Sylvia Paque (nee: Kivi) died on Thursday, August 1, 2019 at Woodside Manor in Green Bay.  Aili was born in Wakefield, Michigan to the late Axel and Lydia(nee: Riipinen) Kivi on November 27, 1917.  She graduated from Wakefield Township High School in 1935 and then attended Green Bay Badger Business College where she met the love of her life, Victor Anton Paque.   Aili and Victor exchanged wedding vows on August 31, 1938 at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.  In the 64 years of marriage, Aili and Vic traveled extensively in the US and abroad to see relatives in Belgium and Finland.  She was so proud of her Finnish heritage.

     Aili was a Sales Associate at H.C. Prange’s for 22 years and enjoyed all the many friends she acquired during her years there.  They had monthly luncheons together often throughout the years.  She was a past member of the Green Bay Women’s Club, Botanical Gardens and currently Wisconsin State Rosemalera Association and Sons of Norway.   Aili enjoyed knitting; making afghans for her family and grandchildren.  She loved skiing, golfing, snowmobiling and swimming.  After retiring, she took up rosemaling(a Scandinavian style of painting on woodware).  She painted plates, bowls, Christmas ornaments for family and friends.  Aili was an exceptional Rosemaler and received many ribbons when her painting were entered in Rosemaling exhibits.  

     Aili was a devoted mother to Ronald V. (Rosalie) Paque, Marlene (James) Carey, Jim (Mary) Paque, and Earl (Kathleen) Paque.  Loving grandmother to Cheryl (Tom) Christiansen, Susan (Jim) Cossette, Cindy (Mike) Vanden Heuvel, Brian Paque, Julie (Steve) Fay, Kurt Paque, Tami Paque (Dennis), and Jim (Christel) Danielson.  Great-grandmother of Lauren, Evan, Jacob, Eric, Brandon, Aaron, Cody, Abigail, Jacob, Kreig.   Sister of Laila Vandenbusch and Evert Kivi.   Aili is preceded in death by her husband, Vic; siblings Leo, Sulo, Wilko, Ero, John, Viola Maki and grandchildren Russell, Kenneth, and Catherine.

     A Visitation for Aili will be held on Tuesday, August 6 at ST. AGNES PARISH, 1484 9th St., Green Bay from 10-10:45 AM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 AM.  Entombment will be at Allouez Catholic Cemetery.
