Alice Bartz, age 86, of Green Bay, went to her eternal home on Monday, February 19, 2018. She was born on April 15, 1931, to the late Reuben and Margaret Hoglund in Chicago. She was baptized at Pilgrim Lutheran Church and later was confirmed at Messiah Lutheran Church in 1944.
She attended Luther Institute and graduated in 1948. After working for a year, she enrolled at Valparaiso University in 1949, attending until June of 1952 when she and Bob were married in August of 1952.
They had 62 wonderful years together. They were fortunate to have been able to do a fair amount of traveling, both in this country and overseas, including Florida, California, Idaho, Oregon, South Dakota, and New England states and up into the Canadian Rockies. They also visited Denmark, Norway, and Sweden, plus cruised the rivers in Germany and visiting Germany, Switzerland, and Italy. Their first cruise was to the Caribbean, then to Alaska a few years later.
Alice was employed by the Green Bay School District for twenty years.
She is survived by her sons, Steve (Barbara), of Florida and Philip, of Green Bay; daughter, Susan, of Indianapolis; two grandchildren, Michael (Liz), of Escanaba and Warren (fiancée, Briana), of Green Bay; three great-grandchildren, Caleb, Aiden, and Brooklyn; one brother, Richard (Dale), of California; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 25, 2018, at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 2160 Packerland Dr., from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. Entombment will be in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Alice’s name.
