Welcome to the memorial page for

Bettie J. Pfeil

March 12, 1928 ~ August 24, 2017 (age 89) 89 Years Old

Bettie J. Pfeil passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2017. She was born in Oshkosh, Wisconsin on March 12, 1928, to Robert and Edna Cornell. She graduated from Oshkosh High School and was employed by the Henderson Hoyt Company and later Oshkosh B'gosh Company.

On November 29, 1946, Bettie married William (Bill) Pfeil and they shared 70 years together. Their life together reflected a partnership that was a great example of what a truly good marriage should be. Throughout the years, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and a friend to many. Upon the arrival of their first child, she became a stay-at-home Mom with all the joy and blessings that that entailed. During the "growing up" years, Bettie served in many supporting roles in Scouting - from Den Mother through preparation for Eagle awards. Attendance at many high school and college sports and other events were a high priority. For many years, she also served as a volunteer Red Cross gray lady at a Green Bay hospital.

Bettie had a special love for little children and enjoyed every opportunity to be with them. For many years, she served in either kindergarten or nursery Sunday school classes. One of the special duties she later had as a Deaconess was to call on new mothers who returned home with their newborns. This often established relationships which, over the years, continued from generation to generation.

Bettie was a born-again Christian who served the Lord in many ways. Her gifts of hospitality and service were evident throughout her life and were blessings to many. She and Bill were charter members of Graceway Fellowship, a Southern Baptist church in Green Bay.

Bettie and Bill also loved to travel and did so extensively throughout North America and Europe while health permitted.

Bettie is survived by two sons - Robert (Brenda) Pfeil and David (Jeri) Pfeil, both of De Pere; two granddaughters, Kristine Pfeil of Menomonee Falls and Kathleen (Daniel) Weisman of Minneapolis; a great-grandson, William Pfeil Weisman and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by Bill in December 2016, her parents, one sister and brother-in-law, Elaine and Raymond Steiner and brother-in-law, Glenn Pfeil.

Family and friends may visit at Lyndahl Funeral Home, 1350 Lombardi Avenue. Green Bay, Wisconsin from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 30, 2017. A celebration of Bettie's life will begin at 11:00 AM with Pastor Rick Schulze of Graceway Fellowship officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memorial Cemetery in Oshkosh.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be given to ASPIRO or Unity Hospice of Green Bay.
