Bruce Dartt Obituary

Bruce K. Dartt, 61, born September 9, 1956, beloved son of Janet Dartt and the late Ken Dartt, passed away on August 13, 2018. In 1981, Bruce suffered a life changing diving accident at Kelly Lake and consequently spent the last 37 years in a wheel chair.  Never one to get discouraged, he led a full life despite his disability.  Bruce had been employed at Cellular Systems and retired in 2012.  His passion for race cars took him to Elkart Lake for the races every summer.  His love of music was evident with his collection of CD’s and albums.  Bruce loved the Packers.  He was “My Sonny Honey”, and my “hero” as well as to his brother and sister.

Bruce is survived by his mother, Janet; sister, Cathy (Bill) Kandravi; brother, Jon (Annette) Dartt; step-mother, Joyce Dartt; as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews. He will be missed by lifelong friend, Andy Clark, his guardian angel, Lois Vieu, and other great friends.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia (Ginger) (Randy) Jones.

Thank you to all the staff at Manor Care East Nursing Home and Compassive Hospice. Special thanks to Katie, Erin, Amy and John.  We can never thank Andy enough for all the love and care he gave to Bruce for the last two years as well as Lois, who was a great friend in time of need.

A celebration of Bruce’s life will be held on Monday, August 20, 2018, at the Automobile Gallery, 400 South Adams Street, from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m.  Expressions of sympathy, memories, and photos may be shared with Bruce’s family on his tribute page at www.lyndahl.com.

In lieu of flowers the Dartt family has set up a memorial fund in Bruce’s memory.  All contributions will be given to several charities to further the progress of spinal cord research.
