Evelyn Mae Hendricks, age 85, of Oneida, passed away on Tuesday, April 10, 2018. She was born on February 24, 1933, to the late Alfred and Marie (Van Lanen) Zepnick. Ev was united in marriage with Orville Hendricks on September 2, 1953. As lifelong members of St. Joseph’s Church, Orv and Ev served in various ministries and activities. They were married for nearly 65 years and were the most loving and solid example of a marriage – best friends, deeply devoted, and strong through all seasons of life.
Orv and Ev were dairy farmers for most of their career. They later developed Rolling Heights subdivisions and changed the landscape of the neighboring counties by moving thousands of trees with a spade.
They took their family on several road trips, explored Hawaii and the Canadian Rockies, and enjoyed annual family reunions.
Ev was an avid bowler, an accomplished seamstress, and a creative do-it-yourselfer. She enjoyed gardening and birds. She lavished her love on her husband, children, and grandchildren, serving others joyfully all her life. Her faith was a rock solid inspiration. She trusted in God wholeheartedly and prayed lovingly and faithfully for all her family and friends.
Ev’s memory will be carried on by her husband, Orv; children, Marilyn Bazett-Jones, of Green Bay, Laurie (Bill) Beckman, of Granger, IN, Len (Linda) Hendricks, of Lodi, WI, and Lyle (Kathy) Hendricks, of Orofino, ID; grandchildren, Zach Westerman, Alyssa Westerman, Jason Beckman, Chris Beckman, Ryan Hendricks, Stephanie Hendricks; and siblings, Delores (Patrick) Thornton, Jean (Robert) Haynes, Don (Jeanne) Zepnick, Sally (Mike) Wassenberg, Jerry (Judy) Zepnick, and Dick Zepnick.
In addition to her parents, Ev was preceded in death by her infant son, Joseph; son-in-law, Ted Bazett-Jones; siblings, Florence (Bob) Leininger, Rita (Larry) Barrette, Vernon “Bud” (Bev) Zepnick, and Eddie (Jean) Zepnick; and infant brother, Robert Zepnick.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at St. Joseph’s Parish, 145 St. Joseph Dr., Oneida, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. A Mass to celebrate Ev’s life will begin at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will be in the Allouez Catholic Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ev’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN or Operation Smile in Virginia Beach, VA.
