Gary R. Heuvelmans, age 68, Green Bay, died Friday, January 19, 2018 surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle against cancer. He was born September 28, 1949, in Green Bay to the late Roland and Elizabeth Heuvelmans.
Gary graduated from Premontre High School and worked for many years at Graybar Electric, Super Valu and then established his own business of Chim Kleen.
He was a lifelong Green Bay resident and never missed a Green Bay Packer game. He bled green and gold and was at the Ice Bowl at which he helped take down the goal posts. He loved attending Packer games with his family. In his later years, Gary was the devoted caregiver for his mom, Betty. Gary loved to hunt with his son, Gary and grandson, Noah. He belonged to the Brown County and New Franken Sportsman Clubs, Wolf River Skydivers, The Gambler Family, and was a proud member of AA for 30 years.
Gary was an amazing man. He showed acts of kindness to others through thoughtful gestures and a kind word. He was quick to forgive and didn’t hold other’s mistakes against them. Those that were close to him were blessed with a funny smile, a hug and a kiss, along with an I love you when you depart. If love alone could have kept him in our arms, he would have never been able to leave.
Gary will be deeply missed. He was a loving and devoted companion to Victoria (Tori) Cavil having celebrated 25 years together in December; a loving Dad to Gary Heuvelmans II; a beloved Grandpa (Beba) to Jazmen, Mikayla and Noah Heuvelmans; Great Grandpa to Sylvia; and Honorary Grandpa to Emma.
He is further survived by siblings Kevin (Mary) Heuvelmans, Mary Chapman, sister-in-law, Mary Beth Heuvelmans, and Lynn (Ron) Bauman; nieces and nephews, Elizabeth Heuvelmans, Teresa (Freddy) Perry, Jacob (Shauna) Heuvelmans, Christopher Heuvelmans, Lauren and Alex Bauman; along with Tori’s family, Richard Cavil; sister, Dawn (Jeff) Harris; brother, Gregg; and nieces.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Susan (Sam), his brother, Lawrence (Larry), John Chapman, Laverne Cavil and Steve Cavil.
Visitation will be held Saturday, January 27, 2018 from 10:00 am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 noon at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1224 12th Avenue, with the Rev. Michael Thiel officiating. Burial will be in Allouez Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy, memories, and photos of Gary may be shared with his family on his tribute page at www.lyndahl.com
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Gary’s memory.
The family wishes to extend our deepest gratitude to Dr. Ubaid Nawaz and all of the VLCC Aurora staff who took excellent care of Gary. A special thank you to Cathy, RN, and Jack and Michelle Sponholtz for your kind and loving care when we needed you.
