Iona Pasch Obituary

Iona, 95, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 7, 2019. She was born at home in the town of Pella,  Wisconsin to Walter and Hilda Spearbraker on October 23, 1925. Iona graduated from Clintonville High School in 1941 and attended all 75 class reunions. At that time, the remaining class members decided travel was becoming difficult and ended the tradition.

After high school, Iona was employed as an executive assistant at the Dairyman's State Bank until she married her high school sweetheart, Howard Pasch, on September 29, 1945 at St. Martin's Lutheran Church. The couple relocated to Green Bay where they raised their family.

Iona was a proud mother. When her sons attended Beaumont School, she served as the school librarian and she was very involved in the PTA, Scouts, American Field Service, Band and Basketball Parents. She attended all the sporting events her children participated in through their college years and never missed a Southwest High School band concert where all of her sons played coronet. She volunteered as a teacher's aide and librarian at Jackson School and later worked for the DNR where she retired from in 1986.

Iona was a long-time member of Grace Lutheran Church where she served as head usher at the early service for 64 years, taught confirmation classes and attended Young at Heart events.

Iona enjoyed many activities including sewing, crafting, collecting recipes and volunteering. She was an avid gardener, enjoying flowers and selling raspberries. She was a longtime member of the PACE class (People with Arthritis Can Exercise) and found the teachers very inspiring during hurtful times of arthritis. She made many friends over the years through these activities.  Her favorite pastime was visiting with her family and some of her best memories were vacations with family at Shawano Lake.

Iona was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one son, Jim, and a sister, Ardis Schmidt.

She will be sadly missed by sons John (Sharon) Pasch, Lake Zurich IL and Mark Pasch, Green Bay WI, daughter-in-law, Judy Pasch, Madison WI, granddaughters Emily (Dustin) Fox, Oak Park IL, Julie Pasch, Houston TX and Jenna (Ryan) Connelly, Fridley MN and great grandchildren, Kayla and Cooper Fox and many, many friends.
