James Moczarny Obituary

James Joseph Moczarny, 68, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 31st under the care of Unity Hospice at St. Mary’s Hospital in Green Bay.

Jim, as he was fondly known by family and friends alike, was born September 14, 1949 to Leon and Frances (Neiman) Moczarny in Wausau, Wisconsin. He was the third child and only son. Jim’s first steps were taken at his home in the back of the Dixie Crème Donut Shop, a business his parents owned for 35 years.  Jim’s first lessons in hard work and commerce came from these early years

Jim enlisted in the Navy in 1970 and saw duty on USS Davidson in Vietnam. After active service he remained in the Naval Reserves, retiring after 32 years with the rank of Commander.

Jim met Maureen Clark, his future wife, at the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point in the fall of 1975 , while both were enrolled in a Human Resources class. Knowing she was the love of his life, they were married June 25, 1977 and celebrated their 40th Wedding Anniversary in 2017.

Jim graduated from UW-Oshkosh in 1977, and worked in purchasing and procurement in the paper industry for many years. At the time of his death, he was a contract manager at Fincantieri Marinette Marine in Marinette.

He loved to travel with his family, having a special affection for the beaches of Kauai, golfing, volunteering with Special Olympics and participating in many activities, usually with Jake and Jason by his side. He was genuinely concerned with the lives of those around him and energetically interested in others’ lives, jobs and interests. He never met a person that didn’t deserve to be respected for who they are.

He was a dedicated son while his parents were alive and was tireless in his attention to their needs as they aged. After his father’s death Jim became the nucleus and head of the family for his 3 sisters, keeping the family close with his many emails of parental concern for their financial welfare.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Frances (Neiman) Moczarny, Wausau.

Jim will be sadly missed by his wife of 40 years, Maureen; sons, Jason and Jake Moczarny; sisters, Barbara (Bob) Murphy, Patricia (David) DeGroot, and Sharon (David) Zenk; his six nephews and two nieces; and many loving friends. His wonderfully unique smile and love of life will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all.

A visitation on Monday, February 5, 2018 with Memorial Service will be held at Lyndahl Funeral Home, 1350 Lombardi Ave. in Green Bay, WI, The Rev. Steve Fewell will preside.  Friends and family may visit from 3:00-6:00pm with a service at the funeral home at 6:00 pm. Online condolences may be expressed at www.lyndahl.com

Jim’s family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the entire staff of St. Mary’s Hospital, Green Bay and Unity Hospice care for their constant care during his last days.
