Keith Cormier Obituary

My name is Keith E. Cormier, age 71, Ashwaubenon.  On Tuesday, August 14, 2018, I passed away with my family at my side after battling pancreatic cancer.  With the help of doctors from Mayo Clinic, Dana Farber, Emory and Green Bay Oncology, we thought we would beat it, but unfortunately the damn cancer won.

I was the son of the late Kenneth F. and Arleen L. (Heuvelmans) Cormier, born on January 21, 1947.  I graduated from Cormier Grade School and West De Pere High School, class of 1965.  I was drafted into the Army, serving during the Vietnam War obtaining the rank of E-5.  After my return home, I was fortunate to be employed by Larry’s Sinclair Service, where I was able to obtain a great deal of knowledge from Larry Vandehei on how to repair cars.  While working for Larry, I met Jack and Bonnie Peters and got hooked on stock car racing.  I worked for Brown County Racing for a number of years and we also became great friends.  I also was employed by Truck Equipment, Trailer Equipment and finally Wisconsin Public Service working in the fleet department.  I also became hooked on local politics.  I was asked to fill the open seat on the Village of Ashwaubenon board of trustees.  I filled out the remainder of the open term and then I was elected to three terms.  I enjoyed going to numerous NASCAR races with Bristol and Richmond being my favorites.  During the winter months, a trip to the Virgin Islands, or Hawaii helped to keep me warm.  I guess this is enough about me and now about my family.

I am survived by my four siblings.  The oldest being my sister, Karen Czyzewski (two years, ten months and four days older) and her children, Jeff (Pam) Czyzewski, Jeanne (Tom) Castaneda, Julie (Steve) Busch and Jody Johnson.  Next is my sister, Barbara (Scott) Davis and daughter, Rebecca; my sister, Gail (Dale) Dhuey and her children, Brandon Dhuey and Mandi (Branden) Luehring; and my baby sister, Diane (Ken) VanDenPlas and their children, Adam VanDenPlas and special friend, Amanda Berkshire and Traci VanDenPlas and special friend, Matt Baye.

Besides my parents, I was preceded in death by my grandparents, Fred and Ceil Cormier, Peter and Martha Heuvelmans, my brother-in-law, Eugene Czyzewski and my nephew, Matthew Davis.
