Lorraine Trask, age 90, Sturgeon Bay, passed away Friday, October 26, 2018. She was born August 17, 1928 in San Diego, California to the late Allyn and Dorothy (Kiefert) Trask.
In her 20s, she lived in Los Angeles and found some success with having her music published. Everyone including her neighbors at GranCare and at Anna’s Healthcare loved gathering around the piano as she played all of the old standards by ear. Her father’s well-used ukulele was her most prized possession.
Lorraine was secretary for 18 years at Olson Transportation Co. and retired from the Green Bay Police Department after 21 years of employment. She enjoyed singing with the Green Bay Chapter of Sweet Adelines and for many years was the chorus Director.
Lorraine spent many happy hours at her cabin in the woods near Amberg, Wisconsin, where she enjoyed feeding and watching her “little critters” and birds. She had a great love for nature and animals.
She is survived by her sisters, Kathleen Kosnar, Suamico; Susan (Lee) Basten, Sturgeon Bay and Lisa (Ronald) Novitski, Pulaski; her nieces, Brenda Basten Stone (Scott), Cheryl Basten Snook (Michael), Kristine Hurckman Porter (David), Holly Hurckman Scott (Phil), Carly Novitski Nooyen (Al); her nephews, Brad Hurckman (Lana), Andrew Hurckman, Justin Novitski and Aaron Novitski; thirteen great-nieces and great-nephews; as well as cousins and friends.
Lorraine is preceded in death by her parents, and step-mother, Jane (McAllister) Trask.
Visitation for Lorraine will be held Saturday, November 10, 2018, at Lyndahl Funeral Home, 1350 Lombardi Avenue, from 10:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 am. Expressions of sympathy, memories and photos may be shared with Lorraine’s family on her tribute page at www.lyndahl.com.
Lorraine will be laid to rest next to her Mother at Woodlawn Cemetery, Green Bay.
The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff of Unity Hospice, Anna’s Healthcare and Care Wisconsin for the loving care and concern given to Lorraine.
