Marlene Spangler Obituary

Marlene T. Spangler, age 85, Green Bay, passed away on Wednesday, May 9, 2018.  She was born May 2, 1933 in Green Bay to the late Arthur and Ethel (Smith) DeMuyser.  On May 7, 1955, Marlene married Joseph Spangler at Sts. Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church in Green Bay.  Marlene had been employed by the Wisconsin Telephone Company, Jahnke Beverage, Kay Distributing and Parmentier Floral.  She was a member of the Audubon Society, was a contributor to Weather Friend Calendar, since 1992, and was a Field Editor for Birds & Blooms Magazine.  Marlene loved to fish, hunt, travel to Canada, and watching birds, but, most of all, she loved her family.

          She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce Spangler, David and Cindy Spangler and Paul and JoAnn Spangler and Cindy Spangler; grandchildren, Courtney, Jamie (Chris) Spina, Buddy (Amanda), Samantha, Brian (Danielle), Matthew and Brett; great-grandson, Brayden; two step-brothers, Lou (Nancy) Schweiner and Jack (Carole) Schweiner; God-children; very good friends, Cathy and Debbie Neumeier; nieces, nephews, and many friends.

          In addition to her parents, Marlene was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; son, Dale; four sisters, Ethel (Earle) Jahnke, Lois Jean (Raymond) Ledvina, Margaret Graber and Dolores DeMuyser; sister-in-law, Betty (Norbert) Geatens; father and mother-in-law, Desire and Anna Spangler; and her step-father, John Schweiner.

          Visitation will be held on Friday, May 11, 2018, at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1484 Ninth Street, from 9:30 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Patrick Beno officiating. Entombment will be at the Allouez Catholic Cemetery.  Expressions of sympathy, memories and photos may be shared with Marlene’s family on her tribute page at www.lyndahl.com.  A memorial fund has been established in Marlene’s name.  The family would like to thank the entire staff at Birch Creek Apartments and the staff at Unity Hospice for their wonderful care of Marlene.
