Vernon C. Boreen, 94, Green Bay, passed away on Friday, December 7, 2018 with his family by his side. He was born on March 18, 1924 in Wittenberg to the late John and Mayme (Hamilton) Boreen. On July 26, 1952 he married Marion Hoekstra in Shawano.
Vernon was a semi driver for many years in Green Bay. His career started as a driver for Wheeler Tank Lines before driving for SuperValu for over 30 years. Vernon was proud of having a 1,000,000 mile safe driving award. He enjoyed “Gunsmoke” and western movies, listening to Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson and older country music and going to antique car and tractor shows. Vernon also enjoyed and was very proud of the Allis Chalmers tractor that he restored. For his 80th birthday he took his one and only airplane flight, visiting Pike’s Peak in Colorado.
Vernon is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marion; children, Diane Jeanquart, David (Cindy) Boreen, Dale Boreen, Dan Boreen and Della (Roman) Mudry; grandchildren Matthew, Nicholas and Andrew Boreen, and Natalya and Viktor Mudry; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. He is also survived by brothers-in-law Melvin (Jean) Hoekstra, Tony (Janice) Hoekstra and Jack Hoekstra.
In addition to his parents, Vernon is preceded in death by his son-in-law, Phil Jeanquart; siblings, Howard (Viola) Boreen, Floyd (Doris) Boreen, Vincent (Edna) Boreen, Donald (Esther) Boreen, Kenneth (Edith) Boreen, Arlyn (June) Boreen, Gladys Boreen, Mildred Boreen and Marian Boreen, as well as sisters-in-law Arlene (John) Koeser and Ruth Abrams.
Visitation will take place on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at Lyndahl Funeral Home, 1350 Lombardi Avenue, from 3:00 pm until the time of funeral service at 5:30 pm.
