William "Bill" Hoeft Obituary

William “Bill” Andrew Hoeft, age 89, of Green Bay, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 20, 2018.  He was born on the family farm in the Kettle Moraine on July 7, 1928, to the late Ernst and Gesiene (Stoehr) Hoeft.  He proudly served in the United States Air Force.  Bill married Elizabeth “Betsy” Fliss in Kewaskum on July 13, 1951.  He worked for the Milwaukee County Parks Department for 36 years before retiring.  During retirement, Bill and Betsy enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, particularly Arizona.  He enjoyed fishing and gardening, and was a consummate handy-man, always willing to help others.  Bill and Betsy were members of Calvary Lutheran Church and Bill was proud to be part of a group of handy-men at church, affectionately known as the “Grumpy Old Men.”  Bill also loved cheering for the Packers and the Brewers.  He was thrilled to have participated in the Old Glory Honor Flight with his daughter on April 11, 2018.  Above all else, Bill was a devoted family man.

Bill will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 66 years, Betsy; daughter, Barbara (Mike) Anderson and grandson, Eric Anderson.  He is further survived by his nieces, nephews, and many special friends.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his siblings, August (Mae), Robert (Delores), Walter (Rosie), Hugo (Violet), Paul (Gladys), Arthur, and Marie (Robbie) Struebing; and mother and father-in-law, Dorothy and Jacob Fliss.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at Lyndahl Funeral Home, 1350 Lombardi Ave., from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.  Visitation will continue on Thursday, May 24, 2018, at Calvary Lutheran Church, 1301 S. Ridge Rd., from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.  A funeral service to honor Bill’s life will begin at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Earl Vorpagel III officiating.  Entombment will be in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.

Bill’s family wishes to extend a special thank you to the doctors and nursing staff at St. Mary’s Hospital Emergency Department and the ICU.
