Agnes H. Yungwirth, 95, of Ashwaubenon, passed away on May 25, 2026 at Woodside Manor.
She was born on June 2, 1930, to Herman and May (Weiter) Endries in St. Nazianz, Wisconsin, and grew up on the family farm. Then at the age of 14, she began what would be almost a couple decades of working as a waitress.
Agnes was united in marriage to Tom Yungwirth at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Manitowoc on June 11, 1960. He preceded her in death on July 9, 2025. In their early years of marriage, they owned and managed a restaurant in downtown Manitowoc. Then after moving to Ashwaubenon, Agnes worked for a short time in the Fort Howard Paper Company cafeteria. Then for many years, Agnes cared for babies and young children in her home during the day while their parents (who were teachers in the Ashwaubenon School District) were at work.
Anyone who knew Agnes, knew that she was an avid card player. She mostly loved cribbage and bridge. Through the years, she belonged to many bridge clubs around Green Bay; at one point, playing almost every day of the week and almost always winning. Agnes was also a member of Nativity of Our Lord Parish and a charter member of the church's Women's Guild. And for many years, Agnes also supervised the church kitchen and facilitated the sales of coffee and rolls in the church hall after each Sunday mass. Agnes was also an Ashwaubenon Lioness member for over 30 years.
And of course, Agnes's true passion was tending to her vegetable and flower gardens. For decades, she kept their yard beautiful with blooming flowers of all varieties. She could have written a book with her encyclopedic knowledge of flowers and plants. In the vegetable garden, they grew cucumbers for canning pickles, zuchini for side dishes and delicious cakes and breads, rhubarb for tasty pies and tortes, along with tomatoes, onions and carrots as well.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Jay and Christine Yungwirth, Allouez, and sister Norma Pagel, Brown Deer, Wisconsin; 3 grandchildren: Amy Yungwirth, Steven (Ally) Yungwirth, Sara (Jenna) Wegner; 3 step-grandchildren: Mariah (Nathan) Lamal, Kayley Sjoholm and Skyler Sjoholm; and 5 great grandchildren, Henry Millspaugh, William Yungwirth, Charlotte Yungwirth, Emilia Lamal, and Beau Lamal; and many nieces and nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Herman and May Endries; her brothers: Richard Endries, Lawrence Endries and Leander Endries; sisters Marion Nichols and Gladys Van Lannen; brothers-in-law: Myron Pagel, Lawrence Van Lannen and Donald Nichols; sisters-in-law: June Endries, Diane Endries and Rosie Stumpf; and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law from Tom's side of the family.
We would like to send a special thank you to all of her wonderful friends and neighbors who have helped her over the years with many tasks around the house and yard: Tom, Santa and Dan, Debbie, Jan, Joan, Betty and Teresa.
Also a special thank you to all of her friends at Woodside who played cards with her and came to visit her frequently, right up until her passing. We are forever grateful to all the amazing staff at Woodside who always went above and beyond in their care routines. And finally, thank you to Heartland Hospice for making her final days full of comfort and peace.
