Allen R. Loest, age 81, of Green Bay passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at his residence.
Allen was born July 23, 1944 in Beaver Dam, son of the late Elmer and Erma (Steger) Loest. He was a graduate of Mayville High School with the Class of 1962. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh with the Class of 1966. He served his country as a Captain in the U.S. Air Force from 1966-1971, which he was extremely proud of. He subsequently earned an additional associates degree from Northeast WI Technical College.
Allen worked at AC Nielsen in Human Resources for the first half of his career and finished his career as VP of Human Resources at N E W Curative Rehabilitation Center before retiring in 2009.
Allen enjoyed fishing as a kid in Mayville and Lake Michigan as an adult, playing basketball at Mayville High School and in various recreational leagues in the Air Force and in Green Bay, and baseball at Mayville High School and as an all-star in the Rock River League. He loved watching sports, especially the Packers, Brewers, Bucks, Wisconsin football and basketball, and to a lesser extent Marquette basketball even though his son and grandson went to school there. As he got older he enjoyed going to various local casinos, dinners with his partner Sharon, spending time with his family and grandchildren, and doing yard work.
Survivors include his son: Nathan (wife Jill and grandchildren Colin and Owen);
partner Sharon Pleau (35 years); sister Shirley Bergeman (husband Bruce, sons David (wife Sara and daughter Mia and son Colt)) and Daniel (wife Julie); brother Kenneth Loest (wife Carol (sons Craig (wife Sarah and daughters Ella and Emily)) and Kyle (wife Lybra and daughter Finley)); brother Glenn Loest (wife Anne (daughters Hillary (husband Andre Schneider and daughters Lydia and Madilyn)) and Haillie (Jamar Turner and son Theo); sister Lorae Bremer (husband Allen (daughter Jamie (husband Thomas and sons Jack and Samuel) and son Marcus (wife Nora)). Allen was preceded in death by his parents Elmer & Erma.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 25, 2025 at the Lyndahl Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Park, Union Grove, WI.
The family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home from 12 noon until the time of the services on Saturday October 25th.
