Arlene G. (Jobe) Koivisto

Arlene G. Koivisto, age 86, passed away Sunday, October 12, 2025, at Rennes Nursing Home, De Pere.

She passed away peacefully, holding the hand of the love of her life, her husband Jacob “Dean”.

Arlene was born October 25, 1938 in Ironwood MI. She was daughter of the late William and Gertrude (Swanberg) Jobe. She was a graduate of Luther L. Wright Highschool with the class of 1956. On February 23, 1957 she was united in marriage to Jacob Koivisto at Trinity Lutheran Church, Ironwood MI.

Arlene worked many jobs. She worked as a teen, babysitting and as a carhop on roller skates at A&W. Arlene was a telephone operator and a dental assistant. She volunteered on a hotline helping abused women and children get to a safe shelter. Arlene worked at NWTC and as an executive secretary to the President of H.C.Pranges. When asked which job she liked the best, Arlene said “I loved them all.” She loved work so much that she couldn’t understand why anyone would want to retire. Arlene was teased that the last day of work would be the day before her funeral. Though being the care giver that she was, she retired to take care of her mom, then her mother- in- law and then her dad.

Her family and friends were a great joy to her. She could strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere.  Arlene enjoyed curling, Tuesday Ladies Night with a few close friends, babysitting her grandkids and helping out at their school. She enjoyed one Bud Light when she was out celebrating birthdays. Arlene loved reading and water (any water, lakes, pools and beaches). She will be remembered as the kindest, most caring and loving person by all those whose lives she touched. Arlene was always concerned about the wellbeing of others. Even in hospice she was worried about her family.

Survivors include: her husband Jacob “Dean” Koivisto, her children: Kim Vanden Branden (Jim), Alan Koivisto (Lynn), Jill Krcma (Mike); even though they were listed as spouses, she loved and treated them like her own; her grandchildren: Amber Hoff (Danno), Alex Koivisto (Molly), Olivia Koivisto (Christian Davis), Mitchell Krcma (Shanna), Lauren Pahl (Blake); her great grandchildren: Maya and Zoe Hoff, Isla, Reid and Collette Koivisto, Hudson and Sullivan Pahl.

The family would like to thank the staff at St Mary’s Hospital, Rennes Health care and especially the staff at Unity Hospice. Your kindness, caring and support were greatly appreciated.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 1, 2025 at Redeemer Lutheran Church (210 S. Oneida St.), Green Bay.  The family will greet relatives and friends at the church from 9:30 until the church service at 11:00.

In Lieu of Flowers, the family requests a donation be made to the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League through Redeemer Lutheran Church, Green Bay.
