Bonnie Marie Gezella, 78, Green Bay passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 16, 2025 at Bellin Hospital surrounded by her family.
Bonnie was born on March 27, 1946 in Algoma, the daughter of Elton and Dorothy (Seiler) DeFere. She attended Sturgeon Bay High School. On July 26, 1975, she married Leon Gezella. Bonnie was a dedicated wife, mom, and grandma. Once her children were in school, she worked for the Ashwaubenon School District as the noon hour supervisor. Bonnie enjoyed crafting, listening to music, especially Elvis, going for drives, shopping, camping, lunch dates with her friends, daughter days, and cherished time spent with her family, attending family gatherings and grandchildren’s activities.
Bonnie is survived by her husband: Leon Gezella; children: John (Anne) Bauer, Mike (girlfriend Kathleen) Bauer, Heather Gezella, and Mandi (Nick) Weidner; grandchildren: Spencer Gezella, John “Johnny” Bauer, Jr., Raegan Colson, and Jovie Weidner; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Joanie DeFere, Ann DeFere, Rick (Brenda) Gezella, Ann (Kim) Orlikowski, and Gary (Diane) Gezella. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, the entire Lynch family, other relatives and friends. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents: Alton and Dorothy DeFere; parents-in-law: Chester and Elaine Gezella; grandchildren: Tony and Sara Bauer; and two brothers: Gary DeFere, and Ronald DeFere.
A memorial service to celebrate Bonnie’s life will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at 4:00 pm at the Lyndahl Funeral Home, 1350 Lomardi Ave., with Deacon Greg Rotherham officiating. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at the funeral home from 2:00 pm until the time of service at 4:00 pm.
