Carol Jean Poppy

Carol Jean Poppy, age 85, of Green Bay passed away Sunday, December 15, 2024 at Oddfellows Nursing Home.

Carol was born May 25, 1939 in Green Bay, daughter of the late Nels and Mildred (Rehder) Nelson.  She was a graduate of Green Bay West High School with the Class of 1961.  On October 19, 1990 she was united in marriage to Jon M. Poppy at Bethel Lutheran Church, Green Bay.

Carol worked in Inventory Control for James River Corporation until her retirement in May of 1995.  She was a lifelong member of Bethel Lutheran Church, a longtime Sunday School teacher at Bethel and a member of Bethel Women’s Bible Study group.  Carol enjoyed their place in Door County and loved to go out to eat, especially at Sammy’s Pizza.

Survivors include her husband:  Jon Poppy; as well as other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents Nels & Mildred Nelson, three aunts Elaine, Genevieve and Lucile Rehder, a sister-in-law Joann Poppy and an aunt & uncle Marie & Martin Johnson.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at Bethel Lutheran Church, 1350 Bond Street, Green Bay.  Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Kim Swenson with entombment to take place at Allouez Mausoleum at a later date. The family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Saturday, December 21, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services at 11:00 a.m.
