Constance "Connie" Gardner Riggle Obituary

Constance “Connie” F. (Scoon) Gardner Riggle, age 84, formerly of Manistique, MI passed away peacefully on Monday, May 19, 2025 surrounded by her family.

Connie was born March 19, 1941 in Manistique, daughter of the late William and Kathleen (Olmsted) Scoon.  She was united in marriage to Robert W. Gardner on October 24, 1959 in Manistique.  He preceded her in death on October 9, 2002. She was married to Robert P. Riggle on November 27, 2004 in Green Bay. He preceded her in death on January 24, 2010.

Connie worked as a nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital, Green Bay starting in 1980.  Both her and Robert Gardner also owned Far Away Joe’s Pizza, Green Bay from 1987 to 1992.  When they returned to Manistique, she worked as a nurse in home health care for several years.  Upon their return to Green Bay, she worked as a nurse at St. Vincent Hospital until her retirement.

Connie enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She loved reminiscing of times gone by, keeping up with her grandchildren’s activities and accomplishments, meals shared together, and visiting with her circle of friends at Woodside Oaks Senior Living.

While their children were growing up, Connie was actively involved with their activities including being a scout leader.  She enjoyed her sewing club; this circle of friends lasted her a lifetime. Connie enjoyed gardening, baking, crafting, and was an avid reader. She enjoyed rides through the countryside, camping, and snowmobiling with her first husband. Later, she enjoyed her snowbird trips to Florida and circle of friends she made with her second husband. 

Survivors include her children:  Michael (Kimberly) Gardner, Green Bay; Renee (Dan) Wadle, Green Bay; Raymond (Colleen) Gardner, Theresa; grandchildren, Nicole and Ryan Gardner, Andrew and Anna Wadle, Jacob and Megan Bodden, Kaylee Gardner. She is also survived by two brothers, William (JoAnn) Scoon and Theodore Scoon; sister-in-law Evelyn Gardner as well as many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.  Connie was preceded in death by her parents Wm. & Kathleen Scoon, her husband Robert Gardner, her second husband Robert Riggle and one brother John Scoon.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at Bethany United Methodist Church, Green Bay (1110 Echo Lane).  Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Robb McClintock with burial to take place at Woodlawn Cemetery, Green Bay following the service.

The family will greet relatives and friends at the church from 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2025 until the time of the services at 11:00 a.m.
