Daniel H. Basten, 59, of Green Bay passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at his home.
Dan was born on November 18, 1961, in Green Bay to Richard and Dorothy (Magnuson) Basten. He was a 1980 graduate of Southwest High School and furthered his education at NWTC for his plumbing degree and became a Journeyman Plumber. Dan was proud of his work and always continued to learn more. He went on to study and earn his master’s Plumbers License.
Dan raised two beautiful daughters, Jen and Amanda. They were his biggest pride and joy and he loved them dearly. Dan loved to spend time at his family’s cottage on Star Lake in Mountain, WI. He was an avid deer hunter, like his father, and they could be found building tree stands and hunting together. Dan also enjoyed fishing and snowmobiling. He shared his love of the outdoors with his daughters. He enjoyed being with his friends and attending concerts with them. Dan was also quite the chef and loved to cook for his friends and family.
Dan is survived by his mom, Dorothy; two daughters: Jen (Paul Hujet) Basten and Amanda (Lance) Gunnlaugsson; four grandchildren: Rowen, Layton, and Bria Gunnlaugsson and Tenneleigh Hujet; sisters and brothers: Sharon (Joel) Gruman, Amy (Matt) Weum and Steven Basten; and nieces and nephews: Andrew and Marlayna Gruman, and Brock and Tyler Weum. He was preceded in death by his dad, Richard Basten, and his grandparents.
