Daniel J. Bennett, age 64, formerly of Green Bay passed away unexpectedly at his residence in Fence, WI
Daniel was born January 22, 1962 in Green Bay, son of the late Kenneth and Joanne (Jacobs) Bennett. He was a graduate of Southwest High School with the Class of 1980. Dan also attended FVTC earning a Electricity Technical Diploma to advance his career in August 2009. On August 31, 2017 he was united in marriage to Ellyn Greenlan (Behm) in a private outdoor ceremony at St. Mark Lutheran church in DePere WI.
Daniel worked a variety of jobs post high school. He was hired by Paper Converting May 1st 1989 as a tool setter, later a machinist and then mechanical electrical assembly, where he worked until the end of his career.
Dan decided to retire 2021 and the following year he and Ellyn moved to their cabin “up north” so he could finish construction/ remodeling the home which he did successfully and beautifully- like always.
Daniel enjoyed working on pretty much anything with an engine and wheels but his passion was cars. He owned different classic cars through the years which he enjoyed taking to various car shows, having a few beers and talking shop with other car enthusiasts. In Dan’s younger days he was also involved in WIR drag racing. He placed various times, winning trophies and in 1994 he won the WIR Bracket Championship Series. Dan also raced on ice and won 1st place in the Oconto Falls Rough Rider Ice Drags- 2WD open studded category.
Dan loved snowmobiling and accrued thousands of trail miles with family and friends.
Dan also enjoyed nature to its fullest. He was an avid deer hunter earlier in life, he was able to hunt elk on 2 separate trips in Colorado which he successfully got an elk both times.
Dan always loved fishing which more recently was his passion. He enjoyed salmon fishing on Lake Michigan and stalking around river and creek beds for trout.
Dan was a perfectionist and skilled at many things. He could fix anything- if he didn’t know how, google and you tube videos were his guide. He renovated many a room and homes, his results were always remarkable.
Survivors include his wife Ellyn Bennett, his son Samuel Bennett, sister Victoria (David) Veum, Stepchildren Brianna (Eric) Gunderson and James Greenlan, step grandsons Oliver and Kase Gunderson, sister-in-law Amy (Mike) Hanson, father-in-law Gerald Behm, nieces, nephews also many family members and friends. Daniel was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth & Joanne Bennett, brother Gregory Bennett and mother-in-law Nancy Behm.
