Darold Omer Maus, age 78, of Green Bay passed away on Monday, October 11, 2021. He was born in Green Bay on May 2, 1943 to the late Omer and Anna (Erickson) Maus. In 1959, Darold joined the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in 1963. Darold married the love of his life, Jamie Meverden, on January 22, 1966 at Redeemer Lutheran Church. They enjoyed 55 years together and raised 3 children.
Darold worked hard his whole life with the last 33 years working as a carpenter for the City of Green Bay Park, Recreation, and Forestry Dept., retiring at the age of 61. Family was so important to Darold. "Papa" loved playing with his grandchildren and having his dog, Gram, at his side. He enjoyed camping, helping Jamie with her "projects", listening to old time Country music, and watching NASCAR and the Packers/football with a cold beer at his side. Darold also enjoyed visiting with his friends from the Mall.
Darold is survived by his loving wife and best friend: Jamie. Children: Chad (Tammy) Maus, Heather Maus-Ward (fiance, Andrew Becker), and Carie (Alan) Lohman. Grandchildren: Brandon Guillett, Winter Griggs (fiance, Joey Lemery), Wayne and Westley Maus; Natalie, Anastasia, and Zachary Ward; Jasmine, Kaden, and Evelyn Lohman. Great-grandchildren: Theseus and Aria Guillett. Big "D" had a special place in his heart for his niece Lori (David) Zadrazil and their children Jade, Teal (Patrick), and Kaleigh. Darold is also survived by his sisters Joan Horkman and Diane (Gerald) Canfield, his brothers Andrew (Bonnie) Maus and Charles (Barbara) Maus, sister-in-law Nicole (Norman) Oost, and many special nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Donald and Dewane Maus, sister Donna Rae Leurquin, brother-in-laws Donald Horkman and Charles Leurquin, and sister-in-law Marie Maus. Darold was the last of his longtime friends.
Visitation will be on Friday, October 15th, 2021 at Lyndahl Funeral Home from 4 to 7pm. Viewing will be on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at Calvary Lutheran Church, 1301 S. Ridge Rd. from 10-11am. A service to celebrate Darold's life will follow at 11 am with Rev. Jeff Fricke presiding. Online viewing of the service will be available on YouTube/Calvary.
