David C. Massey, age 79, of Green Bay went home to finally join the love of his life, Karen, on March 6, 2023. He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren.
David was born to the late Clarence and Gladys (Reno) Massey on November 26, 1943. He eloped with his high school sweetheart, Karen Sauerhammer, on July 26, 1964 while David was stationed in Southern California as a Marine. They had 44 years of earthly marriage, raising two children, Annette and Scott.
David worked from May 1967 until he “thankfully retired” in December of 2005 from James River. He and Karen bought land and then built their cottage outside of Crivitz, not far from the Twin Bridges, where they spent almost all of their free time with their children, grandchildren and friends enjoying nature until Karen’s passing. After her passing, David couldn’t bring himself to enjoy their get away without her.
David was an amazing, kind, caring, loving man and will be dearly missed by his children: Annette (David, Sr.) Kozicke, Sheboygan; Scott (Tina) Massey, Green Bay; his grandchildren: John (Rachel) Kozicke, David Kozicke, Jr., Dymond (Samuel, II) Sobiesczyk and Xavier (fiancée Chantell) Massey; also his great grandchildren who affectionately call him “Double G”: Sosolia, Allison, Lakota and Rylea Sobiesczyk, Zayne and Irabell Kozicke, Jackson and Elijah Kozicke; his brother: Russell (Darlene) Massey; sister-in-law: Helen Massey; his foster daughter: Sue Noel and family; along with many other nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. In addition to his wife and parents, David was preceded in death by his oldest brother Donald Massey.
A funeral service honoring David’s life will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, March 11, 2023 at The Lyndahl Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Green Bay. Burial will take place at Fort Howard Cemetery at a later date.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday, March 11, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12 p.m. at the funeral home.
