Diane Piehl Obituary

Diane C. Piehl, age 54, of Ashwaubenon, WI, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully of natural causes, on Friday, April 18th, 2025. Diane was born November 5th, 1970, to the late John L. and Janice R. (Wehrman) Piehl, in Green Bay, WI. Diane graduated from Southwest High School in 1989 and then went on to graduate from NWTC with a degree in computer programming, a job which she has excelled in her entire career. Her first job as a programmer was at Shopko Stores, Inc; she was also employed as a programmer at American Express/Ameriprise, Wisconsin Public Service, and most recently at Associated Bank. Diane made many lifelong and cherished friendships during her career as a programmer (with special mention to Sandy and Gina).

Diane’s favorite place was her cottage at Rustlewood Resort in Three Lakes, WI; her family has been spending vacations there for nearly 50 years, and in June 2002, she and her parents were able to purchase one of the cottages. There’s no place Diane looked happier than steering the boat around the chain of lakes, and she also loved sitting outside the cottage taking in the view and chatting with her Rustlewood friends and neighbors.

Diane’s other favorite place was section 122, row 18, seats 10 & 11 at Lambeau Field (and sometimes seat 9, too…thank you so much Lori); Diane went to her first game with her grandpa as a little girl…and she rarely missed a game since. Attending games with her mom and brother and cheering on the Packers thru terrible seasons and thru championship seasons was one of the joys of her life.  Packer games will not be the same without Diane.

Diane also loved travelling the country with her mom…they made it to 47 states together. Some of her other favorite things to do included going to country music concerts, putting together jigsaw puzzles, and playing games with family and friends.

Survivors include her brother, Mike (Kelly) Piehl of De Pere, WI; a very special aunt Karen Lenz of Green Bay, WI; special cousins Ryan (Stephanie) Lenz, Nick (Charity) Lenz, and Marc Lenz; special 2nd cousins Dylan, Thomas, Zach, Julianna, Bella, and goddaughter Harper; first cousin once removed Mary Weber; her Rustlewood family (especially Joe and Jan Orth, Deb Sauer, and Tom Piggot & family), the Lambie family, and other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John “Jack” and Janice (Wehrman) Piehl; her grandparents Don and Ruth (Genens) Wehrman and John “Jack” W. and Marion (Supernand) Piehl; very special uncle John “Jack” Wehrman; uncles Thomas and Richard Piehl; and her beloved family dogs, Charlie, Riley, and Payton (who is certainly already pestering Diane to play ball).

A funeral service will be held Friday May 9, 2025 at 2:30 pm at Fort Howard Memorial Park Chapel, 1350 N. Military Avenue, Green Bay. Visitation will begin at 12:30 pm until the time of service.
