Donald George Woelz, age 98, of Green Bay, passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2022.
Donald was born in Green Bay on October 9, 1924, to the late Otto and Ellen (Martell) Woelz. He was a graduate of Green Bay East High School with the class of 1942. Donald served in the United States Army Air Corp from 1942 to 1945 during World War II. After returning from the war, he married Ruth (Bethe) Woelz on January 5,1946 until her death on June 12, 2006. He married Ina Tomescu on March 8, 2010.
Donald worked for Fort Howard Paper as an electrician for 30 years until he retired in 1986. He also worked for Vos Electric for many years after he retired from Fort Howard Paper. He was involved in numerous organizations and volunteered to repair computers for St. Vincent De Paul. He was also a former Boy Scout Leader and served on the Bay Lakes Council for 25 years.
In his free time, Donald enjoyed camping, boating, helping family and friends with projects and doing sudoku and crossword puzzles.
Donald is survived by his wife Ina Tomescu; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Donald (Dennis), West Bend, WI; David R., Green Bay; John N. and Dana, New York; Jeffrey A and Sharon, Green Bay; 3 grandchildren, Melanie, Green Bay; Brian, Maryland; Jeffrey J, Green Bay; one step grandchild, Brandon, Green Bay; three great grandchildren: Aiden, Logan and Lillian, Green Bay; one step great grandchild, Emma, Green Bay.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Ruth C Woelz and his sister Joyce Nehring.
The family will greet relatives and friends at the Lyndahl Funeral Home, 1350 Lombardi Ave., on Monday, November 14, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at Nativity of Our Lord Parish from 10:00 a.m. until the time of mass at 11:00 a.m.
A funeral service honoring Donald’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at Nativity of Our Lord Parish, 2270 S. Oneida St, with Rev. Matt Simonar officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial. Full military honors will take place immediately after the service, and entombment at Allouez Chapel Mausoleum will occur later.
A memorial fund will be established in Donald’s name to St. Vincent De Paul Green Bay.
