Donna Mae Hansen, age 94, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 3rd, 2024 with her family by her side.
Born November 7, 1929 in Green Bay to the late Louise and Louis Ness. Donna graduated from West High School in 1947. On June 26, 1948, she married Melvin Hansen and celebrated 55 years together until his death on January 12, 2004. They had 4 children: twins Peggy and Alice, Steve, and Gayle.
Donna worked at her father’s gas station until she married Mel. After raising her family, she worked at Sears, and later Associated Bank. Donna and Mel built their cottage on Kelly Lake, where they spent many days fishing, going on pontoon rides, and enjoying time with family. They also enjoyed occasional trips to the casino. Family meant everything to her, and she rarely missed an event that her kids and grandkids were involved in. Donna was an active member at Bethel Ev. Lutheran Church. She enjoyed volunteering at Grandcare Nursing Home and loved the Packers.
Donna is survived by: her daughters Peggy (Al) Hansen and Gayle (Jack) Peot; grandchildren Kelli (Josh) Stertz, Ryan (Meghan) Phillips, Aaron (Andrea) Pendl, Andrew (Meghan) Pendl, Mitch (Patricia) Dais, Beth Peot, Megan (Andrew) Wickman, Katie (Max) White and Alison Peot; and 22 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by son-in-law Rick Pendl, daughter-in-law Shelley Hansen, her sister Eileen (Roger) Adams, sisters-in-law Carol Hohne and Connie Ashley, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She is preceded in death by: her husband Mel, daughter Alice, and son Steve; siblings: Gale (Lee), Robert (Jean), Joyce (Art) Nohr, Betty Jean, Beatrice and Odetta; in-laws: Ray, Viola (Evan) Hansen, Beulah (Don) Ashley, Ed Hohne, Howard and Harold.
A funeral service will be held in honor of Donna at Bethel Ev. Lutheran Church, 1350 Bond St., Green Bay, on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at 11:00 am, with Pastor Kim Swenson officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends from 9:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. Burial will take place at Fort Howard Memorial Park at a later date.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Unity Hospice for their care and support. A big thank you to her “special friends” and neighbors George and Wanda Eitland. Because of their help, she was able to stay in her house up until this last year.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up in Donna’s name for Bethel Ev. Lutheran Church.
She was the best Mom, Grandma, Great-Mom and GG, always putting her family first!
Forever in our Hearts! We Love you!
