Doris Mae Grotenhuis, 73, of Suamico passed away on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at Aurora BayCare Medical Center.
Doris was born on September 8, 1951 in Green Bay to Bernard and Betty (Aerts) Jones. She was a 1969 graduate of Preble High School and enjoyed spending time with her friends on the reunion committee over the years. On June 6, 1995, Doris married Richard “Dick” Grotenhuis in St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands. Over the years, Doris worked at Wards in Ashwaubenon in sales and retail management. Doris was passionate about her gardens and loved tending to her flowers, she enjoyed doing puzzles, sudoku, traveling, spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and cherished the family vacations to Disney World and Universal Studios in Florida. Doris was a Packers fan, she enjoyed going to the games with Dick, especially the 1996 season, when they won the Super Bowl.
Doris is survived by her husband of 30 years: Dick Grotenhuis; three children: Kristen (Andy) Wotruba-Kolb, Michael (Rhia) Wotruba, and Jamie (Angela) Wotruba; grandchildren: Haley (Jose) Aranda, Havalah Kolb, Miriella Kolb, and Preslee Wotruba; two great-grandchildren: Santi and Nyla; father: Bernard Jones; sisters and brothers: Terri (Dennis) Piontek, Bev Jones, Carol (Tyler) Clark, Butch (Sandra) Jones, Aggie (Dan) Zepnick, Steve Jones and Lee Jones; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Gail Klaasen, Sue (Jack) Pikaart, and Paul (Toni) Grotenhuis. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Doris was preceded in death by her mother: Betty Jones; two brothers: Tom Jones, and Michael Jones; sister-in-law: Julia Jones; and brothers-in-law: Bob Klaasen, Dan Piontek, and Mike Clark.
A memorial service to celebrate Doris’ life will be held on Sunday, September 14, 2025 at 1:30pm at the Green Bay Botanical Gardens, 2600 Larsen Road. Relatives and friends may greet the family from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm.
