Doris Margaret (LaTour) Van Miller, 99, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. Our beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother was welcomed into her Lord’s loving arms, just 10 days shy of her 100th birthday. She was lovingly known as “Dood” to friends and family. Doris was born December 11, 1920 in Green Bay, Wisconsin to the late Homer Joseph LaTour Sr. and Katherine Ann (Mathys) LaTour. She was raised and lived in Green Bay all her life. Doris graduated from East High School in 1938. She worked at the phone company after graduating. On December 29, 1943, she married Louis Van Miller Jr. who she met on a blind date. They lived a short time in New Haven, CT and later at Chanute Air Force Base, Illinois, while her husband served as a captain in the Army Air Corps. They made their home in Green Bay and raised two sons. Doris became a bookkeeper for their family Standard Oil service station business for 37 years. She was a charter member of St Agnes Church. Doris loved to golf and became an active/charter member of the Brown County Ladies Golf Organization and served as their President. She also enjoyed watching PGA tournaments. As a member of the St. Vincent’s Hospital Auxiliary, she served as a volunteer for over 20 years. Doris also volunteered to read with kids at Howe School in the “Rock n Read” program. She found time to be a cub scout leader for her sons as they were growing up. Doris loved to play bridge with her bridge group of over 70 years. She loved reading and was a great cook. Of course, Doris was an avid Packers fan. Her dad played on the 1911 city team, and they owned the original Packers stock. She was a life-long Packers season ticket holder.
