Doris “Jean” Ness age 92, passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning, November 16, 2021. Jean was born September 12, 1929, in Green Bay, WI to the late Oscar and Lucille (Herlache) Dreier. She married Robert “Bob” Ness on February 7, 1948, in Green Bay, WI. In 1954, Jean and Bob opened operated Ness Standard Service at 1047 Ninth Street, Green Bay, WI. and later moved the business to 975 West Mason, Green Bay, WI. which became Ness Service Center until 1990 when their son Greg took over the business. They retired in Crandon, WI., where they both were involved with the Crandon International Off-Road Raceway for 25 years. They made many friends in the Crandon area but had a very special place in their heart for Larry “Gopher” and Deb Schunk. Jean enjoyed fishing, camping, and snowmobiling with Bob. She loved her children and grandchildren dearly. She loved to sew, knit, and crochet. Her favorite thing to knit was “Happy Socks” which she would gift to her children and grandchildren.
Jean is survived by her four children: Glenn (Melodie) Ness of Green Bay, Teri Cayce (Greg Chico Walker), Green Bay, Kim (Brian) Gorecki Shawano, and Greg Ness, Green Bay; grandchildren: Troy (Kari) Ness, Tera (Tim) Richmond, Tracy (Ron) Herring, Quinn (Allison) Cayce, Collin (Tara-Lee) Cayce, Jessi (Warren) Young, Codi (Kristin) Ness, Tailar Ness, Garret Staszak, Lane (Ashley) Staszak, Preston (Jane) Staszak, Rosie (Brandon) Nygaard, Amber Leigh (Jason DeLeeuw), Carolyn Holiday and Jimmy (Laura) Fuller; 18 greatgrandchildren; Sisters in Law: Donna Hansen, Eileen (Roger) Adams, Lee Ness and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and dear friends survive.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bob Ness, daughter, Patti Ness Denman, son in law David Denman, mother and father-in-law, Louis and Louise Ness, brothers in law Gale Ness, Melvin Hanson, Arthur Nohr, sisters in law, Joyce Nohr, Betty, Beatrice and Odeta Ness.
A Funeral service to honor Jean’s life will be held at Lyndahl Funeral Home, 1350 Lombardi Avenue, Green Bay, WI on Friday November 19, 2021, with Deacon Jerry Coenen officiating. Visitation will be held from 3:00pm until the time of service at 7:00pm. Jean will be laid to rest at Fort Howard Cemetery on Saturday November 20, 2021, at 10:00am.
