Dorothy "Dottie" Thode Obituary

Dorothy “Dottie” C. Thode, 95, of Green Bay, WI, beloved wife, mom, grandma, great-grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on Saturday, June 18th, 2022, after a brief illness. Dorothy, the daughter of Arthur and Clara Camplin, was born on March 13, 1927, in Bloomer, WI.

Dottie graduated from Pewaukee High School in 1944 and immediately went to work for the IRS Department as a secretary in Washington DC for several years. After moving back to the Milwaukee area, she met the love of her life, Del Thode. They got married on May 21st, 1949, and enjoyed a wonderful 58 years of marriage. They later relocated to Green Bay, WI where they spent the rest of their lives. Dottie worked for several years, before deciding to be a stay-at-home mom during her children’s formative years. In 1973 Dottie became the head bookkeeper/secretary at Mc Cormick Assisted Living where she worked for over 20 years.

Dottie enjoyed gardening, painting, ceramics, and playing the piano. She also was a marvelous cook. But her favorite activity by far was playing bridge. Along with being an excellent bridge player, she organized and ran a bridge marathon group for many years and taught many people how to play the game of bridge in the Green Bay area. Most of all, Dottie enjoyed spending time with her family.

Dottie is survived by two daughters: Diane (Jeff) Turek, (Bloomington, IL) Dawn (Bill) Koponen, (Green Bay, WI); one son: Dave (Lisa) Thode, (Little Suamico, WI); grandchildren: Alex (Sarah) Turek, (Round Rock, TX), Katelyn (Ishaan) Sandhu, (Seattle, Washington), Ashley (Chad) Michaels, (Springfield, Virginia), Brett Thode,(Green Bay, WI); great-grandchildren: Danika, Oren, and Walker; the Koponen children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers: Don (Bonnie) Camplin, Fred (Ruth Ann) Camplin, Bill (Kitty) Camplin, Eugene Camplin; and many dear nieces and nephews;. She was preceded in death by her husband: Del; her parents: Arthur and Clara Camplin; brother: Dave (Dianne) Camplin; and sister: DeLora (Doug) Simons.

A memorial service to celebrate Dottie’s life will be held Thursday June 23, 2022, at 12:30 pm at The Lyndahl Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1350 Lombardi Avenue, Green Bay.
