Douglas Wray Maisonneuve, 94, of Hobart passed away peacefully on Friday, November 24, 2023 at Emerald Bay Retirement Community and Memory Care in Hobart.
Doug was born on April 1, 1929 in Minneapolis, MN to the late Raymond and Ella (Bourgeois) Maisonneuve. He was a graduate of De LaSalle High School. Doug served his country in the United States Marine Reserves from 1947-1949 when he was honorably discharged. On May 6, 1950, he married Mary Jo Poitras in Richfield, MN. She preceded him in death on April 25, 2015. Over the years Doug worked as a Pharmaceutical Sales Rep for Rexall Drugs and then was a Rep for Thompson Formby’s, currently known as Sherwin Williams, until his retirement.
Doug owned a Bar in Namur, WI which was ran by his wife Mary Jo with their children: Ray, John, Mike, and Kathy while he was mostly on the road for work.
Doug and his wife enjoyed extensive travel during his life. They went on cruises to the Caribbean, the Hawaiian Islands, and the Straights of Alaska. They also traveled to Acapulco, Medjugorge in Yugoslavia, and many western states. They especially enjoyed traveling to Europe to visit the Vatican, and the Sistine Chapel.
Doug is survived by his children: Eileen Krzyston, Marie (Paul) Maas, Michelle (John) Roberts, LuAnne (Steve) Kraft, John Maisonneuve, Michael (Cheryl) Maisonneuve, and Kathy Maisonneuve; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Doug was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Mary Jo Maisonneuve; son: Raymond (Mary) Maisonneuve; daughter-in-law: Michelle Maisonneuve; and sister: Shirley (John) Ledwith.
A funeral service to celebrate Doug’s life will be held on Friday, December 1, 2023 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish, 2597 Glendale Rd. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Friday, December 1, 2023 at the church from 10:00 am until the time of service at 1:00 pm. Doug will be laid to rest at the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.
