Edith "Edie" Selissen Obituary

Edith J. “Edie” Selissen, age 94, Green Bay, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, to join her husband, Edmund, and many other loved ones.

Edith was born on September 19, 1930, in Kewaunee County, a daughter of the late Eli and Lillian (Felten) Gilson. Edie was raised on the Gilson farm in the Town of Red River. On September 29, 1951, she married Edmund Selissen in Green Bay, he preceded her in death on October 3, 2024. Edie was employed at the IBM Center and Red Owl Office in her younger days. She became a full-time mother when their son, Michael was born. Edie cherished the time she spent being a mom and excelled at keeping her house clean and tidy. She eventually went back to work as a hall monitor with the Green Bay Public School District for over ten years, retiring in 1994. Edie enjoyed traveling with her husband, Ed and other close family and friends. Her true joy was spending time with her family and doting over her only grandson, Lawton.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law: Michael and Tammy Selissen; one grandson: Lawton Selissen; sisters-in-law: Elaine Mac Donald and Noreen Selissen; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by sisters: Ethel (David) Martin, Violet (Ernest) Hanmann; and brothers: Gerald (Joyce) Gilson, Howard Gilson, and Richard Gilson; and in-laws: Jeanette (Jack) De Groot and Richard Selissen.

To honor Edie’s request, private family services will be held at the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum in Green Bay.
