Obituary

Edmond Allan Poirier, age 86, passed away on Monday, November 21, 2022.

Ed “Frenchie” was born on September 4, 1936, to Alex and Esther (Strong) Poirier in Iron Mountain, MI. After graduating from Iron Mountain High School, Ed moved to Green Bay to attend Green Bay Badger Business College. Following graduation, Ed got a job at the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad where he worked for nearly ten years. He then left CNW and worked at a few other jobs until he got a job at Proctor and Gamble, where he retired from after 20 years.

Retirement didn’t find Ed just sitting around not doing anything. The first thing he started doing was volunteering at Bellin in the cardiology department and ended up doing that for over 20 years. At home he spent a lot of time taking care of his raspberry patch with weeding, picking, and selling the berries, and, of course, enjoying those raspberry pies that Karin made. Mowing the lawn was something else he enjoyed doing. It always looked so nice when it was done.

Ed and Karin enjoyed going to see musicals, plays and concerts. He especially liked attending family events, celebrations, and seeing his great grandkids. They even got involved with showing their dogs at many dog shows in the Midwest area. At times it seemed like a lot of work, but the people they met along the way made it well worth it.

Ed’s other passion was cooking. His specialty was making lasagna, which he always made a huge pan of for Christmas Eve when all the family came over. Everyone loved it and always went home with some. Chili was another favorite thing of his to make, especially for the Packerland Kennel Club for their special events and shows

Ed is survived by his wife Karin; his children: Jean (Jeff) Frisch, Bernie (Grace) Poirier; his stepchildren: Lance Raisanen, Larry (Sarah) Raisanen; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; nieces; one nephew; cousins; and many friends. Ed was preceded in death by his parents Alex and Esther Poirier; one brother Bernard; one sister Doreen Marcelini; aunts; uncles; cousins; one stepson Leif Raisanen; one stepdaughter Lisa Raisanen; and one great-grandson Remy Reilly.
