Edmund "Ed" Selissen Obituary

Edmund A. Selissen, age 94, a resident of Emerald Bay Retirement Community, passed away peacefully Thursday afternoon, October 3, 2024, at Emerald Bay with his loving family at his side.

Edmund was born on August 10, 1930 in Green Bay, son of the late Herbert and Alvina (Brouillard) Selissen. He was a graduate of Catholic Central High School in Green Bay. Ed was an optician for Eye and Ear Associates of Green Bay until his retirement in 1994. On September 29, 1951, Ed married Edith “Edie” Gilson in Green Bay. The couple just recently celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary.

Ed was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, and a 67-year member of the Barbershop Harmony Society. He was a member of “The Four Clips” Quartet when they were Land O’Lakes District Champions. He holds the distinction of singing in a quartet every year since joining the Society. He also served as director of the Baylander Chorus from 1957-2014. Ed spent the last 15-20 years singing with the Something Old Something New Quartet.

Ed and Edie enjoyed traveling, he was a lifelong bird watcher and avid fan of the Green Bay Packers being a season ticket holder since the playing days at East High School.

Survivors include: his wife Edith “Edie” Selissen; one son and daughter-in-law Michael (Tammy) Selissen; one grandson Lawton Selissen; one sister Elaine Mac Donald; one sister-in-law Noreen Selissen; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends survive. He was preceded in death by: his parents Herbert and Alvina Selissen; one brother Richard Selissen; one sister and brother-in-law Jeanette (Jack) De Groot.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at the Lyndahl Funeral Home, 1350 Lombardi Ave., Green Bay. Deacon Greg Rotherham will officiate with entombment to follow at the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11:30 am until the time of services at 1:30 pm.
