Elroy D. Nelson, 84, of Ashwaubenon, was called home to eternal rest on June 19, 2021.
Born April 16, 1937, in the town of Spirit, to Arvid and Eileen (Dahl) Nelson, Elroy graduated from Tomahawk High School, and later purchased the Tomahawk Service Company. He met Patricia Zanto, while she was an elementary school teacher in Tomahawk. In 1962, they married and later moved to Green Bay, where he worked in several sales and management positions within the small engine sales and service business, until retirement from Paulsen Hardware. Elroy enjoyed spending time with his Family, especially his great-grandson Jack, watching Nascar and the Packers, and taking family vacations.
Elroy is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Patricia, daughter, Susan (Patrick) McNerney. Siblings, Virgene (Vic) Graves, and Ardiss Nelson. He is further survived by one granddaughter, Chelsea (Ryan) Roessler, and one great-grandson, Jack Roessler; 1 sister-in-law – Connie (Robert) Burlager; 1 brother-in-law John Walbeck; 6 nieces – Loralyn (Chris) Mueller, Sharon Gustafson, Sherrie (Matthew) Lorbeck, Michelle Strozyk, Deanna (Dave) Bollinger and Pamela (Carl) Hanson; and 3 nephews – Steve Walbeck, Rick (Debra) Olson and Mark (Rhonda) Olson. A cousin – Wilbert (Gloria) Nelson, and Godson, Michael Nelson, are also surviving. Elroy was preceded in death by his parents, sister Janet Walbeck, sister-in-law, Arlette Olson, brother-in-law, Tom Olson and Terry Gustafson, Sharon’s husband.
Friends are invited to gather with the family from 10-11am., Thursday, July 8, at St. John Lutheran Church, 2700 Babcock Rd., Green Bay, WI, 54313. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. at the church with Pastor Joshua Fite officiating. Burial will take place immediately after at St. John Lutheran Cemetery, 1999 North Rd., Green Bay, WI 54304.
