Eugene T. Hietpas, age 83, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 19, 2023. He was born at home in Little Chute, Wisconsin to Norbert Hietpas and Josephine (VandenHeuvel) Hietpas on July 20, 1939. Gene graduated from St. John Catholic High School in Little Chute.
Gene married Marjorie Van Ess at St. John Evangelist Catholic Church in Green Bay on December 28, 1963. He worked in the banking industry for most of his career. Gene and Marjorie were long-time members of Nativity of our Lord Catholic Church where he served as chairman of the Parish Council and Finance Council.
Gene was a loving husband and father and very committed to the Greater Green Bay Community. He was a founding member of creating the Stand Together Foundation, former President of the Green Bay Kiwanis Club, Village of Ashwaubenon Trustee, and active in many other community organizations. Gene also served his country honorably in the Army National Guard.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie and five children: Annette (Steve) Noles, Lynn (Steve) Smith, Nancie (Kevin) Brennan, Jay (Jodi) Hietpas and Chad (Kristin) Hietpas. He was preceded in death by his daughter Cheryl (Michael) Lindsley. Gene was a very proud grandfather to: Parker (Danielle) Noles, Mary Beth (Willard) Logan, Katie, Michael and Megan Smith, Benjamin and Zachary Lindsley, Thomas (Vanessa) Brennan, Ellise and Owen Brennan, Holly and Brady Hietpas, Bella and Charlotte Hietpas, and great-grandfather to Avery Noles.
He is preceded in death by his parents Norbert and Josephine Hietpas, mother-in-law and father-in-law Carl and Lena Van Ess, brother Leo (Karen) Hietpas, sister-in-law Lois (Carl) Hietpas, brother-in-law Anthony (Sandy) Van Ess, and brother-in-law Jerome (Jeanne) Van Ess.
A funeral service to celebrate Gene’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 25 at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Parish, 2270 S. Oneida St., with Rev. Matt Simonar officiating. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.
