Eugene M. “Pete” Mastey, age 99, of Seymour passed away October 6, 2025 at Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Seymour.
Pete was born on August 6, 1926, son of the late Stanley and Agnes (Szymanski) Mastey and was one of 13 children. Pete was a graduate of Pulaski High School and served in the U.S. Army as an MP in Germany in 1946. He returned home to operate the Mastey family farm with his brothers in the rural Pulaski area. Known as “Laney”, Pete was united in marriage to Violet Socha on September 26, 1970 and they spent 49 years together until her death in 2019.
Pete was a lifelong member of Pulaski’s Assumption BVM Catholic Parish as well as a member of the Pulaski American Legion post.
Pete is survived by one sister: Geraldine Kulkinski, Woodbury, MN; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and godchildren from the Mastey family. He is also survived by Violet’s siblings: Margaret Kerker, John Socha and Vi’s nieces, nephews and godchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: John, Florian, Alvin, Norbert and Leonard Mastey; Florence Rawleky, Isabelle Mastey, Rita Immel, Lorraine Luebke, Verna Strupp and Evelyn Lubinski. Pete was also predeceased by many of Vi’s siblings.
Per his request, Pete has been cremated and Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary cemetery, Pulaski, WI. Please remember, Pete & Vi in your prayers.
