Eva Farley Obituary

Eva May (aka Mae) Farley, age 90, passed away Monday, October 28, 2024, at her home. She was born May 4, 1934, in Hermansville, MI to the late John and Agnes (Corcoran) Maga. Mom attended Hermansville High School where she was a cheerleader and was voted to have the best legs. She graduated with the class of 1952. After high school, mom attended Badger Business College in Green Bay, an achievement of which she was very proud. After she graduated from business school, this small town girl moved to Milwaukee where she worked in public relations. On April 7, 1956, she married George Farley in Hermansville, MI, and they shared 54 years of marriage before his passing on February 21, 2011. When Nino's Steak House first opened, Eva was hired as a waitress. She slipped on her cowboy boots, leather skirt and vest, and worked there until her retirement in 1984.

Mom enjoyed traveling with Dad, in the U.S. and Europe. She was so proud of her Irish/Italian heritage and was able to go to Italy to meet her cousin, Luigi and his family. They also traveled to Ireland. In later years, she enjoyed adventures with her children. Mom and Dad wintered in Bonita Springs, FL for several years and made many good friends. While she was in FL, she truly enjoyed visits from her children because she would be so homesick.

Mom loved to shop for clothes, shoes, and accessories even though she could not fit anymore in her closet.  Mom was very insightful and would give advice if needed. I know we have all heard her say, “Well, if it was me I would probably do…”

Mom loved her family immensely–if there was a family party, she was usually at the center enjoying a cocktail and sharing her great sense of humor. Mom kept that humor even in her last days.

She was an excellent cook and made the best ravioli around. She loved canning her own tomatoes, pickles, relish, antipasto and jams. Mom loved to pass these skills on to her children and grandchildren. Mom loved every genre of music, especially The Beatles; in fact, she took her last breath while listening to “Let It Be.”

She is survived by her children: Kevin (Vicki) Farley, Alan (Pam) Farley, Patty Farley and Terry Bridges, Steve (Tammy) Farley, Sharon (Steven) Becks; grandchildren: Patrick (Anna) Farley, Kate (Carlos Santos) Farley, Ross (Katie) Farley, Andrea (John) Sinkler, and Jenna (Dave) Rutowski; Jennifer (Brian) Beck, Sheila (Tyler) Luedke, Colleen (Josh) Lardinois, and Thomas (Sarah) Farley; Christopher Farley (Melissa Monfils), Laura Potvin (Adam Weber), Daniel (Whitney) Potvin, and Eve Bridges; Nick (Kaylee) Farley, and Matthew Farley (special friend Kaila VanLieshout); numerous great grandchildren whom she loved tremendously; and sister: Karen (Ray) Lemley. Other relatives and friends also survive.

Eva was preceded in death by her parents: John and Agnes Maga; her husband: George Farley; sisters: Jessica Stanke and Kathryn Maga; and brothers: John, Kenneth, and Donald Maga.

Cremation has taken place and private family services were held.

The family would like to thank our sisters, Patty and Sharon, for the wonderful care they provided mom during the end of her days!

Special thanks to Compassus Hospice, especially Andrea who cared for mom with dignity and respect and could always get a smile and an enthusiastic, “Oh my gosh” from her when she would walk into her room to care for her.
