Florence K. Leski, age 95, was called home to be with our Lord early Monday morning, March 14, 2022. She passed quietly and peacefully in her sleep, with family by her side.
She was born March 2, 1927, in Chicago, IL to the late Roman and Frances (Bist) Nowakowski. She moved with her family to Wausaukee, WI in 1932, and married the love of her life, Walter Leski on August 20, 1949. They moved to Illinois where Walter taught school until his retirement in 1980, after which they moved to Green Bay.
Florence attended Wausaukee schools, the Medical Career Academy in Chicago, and NWTC-Green Bay. She worked at Baxter Laboratories in the Chicago area, as well as physician’s offices in Chicago and Green Bay. Additionally, she worked in Home Health Care through St. Mary’s Hospital. Her community involvement included service as Vice President of the American Association of Medical Assistants (North Shore Chapter. Illinois), a member of the VFW Ashwaubenon Auxiliary Post #10244 where she held various positions, including President, membership in the Polish Heritage Society, and a charter member of the volunteer staff at The Weidner Center for the Performing Arts in Green Bay.
She is survived by her son: John (Donna) Leski; daughter: Carol Leski; grandchildren: Alex Stritzel, Olivia Leski, and Laiken Thyrion; step-granddaughter: Harmony Tank; great-grandchildren: Leland Stritzel, Eily Olson, Warren Tappero; and step-great-grandsons: Kaleb Malouf, Isaac & Dominic Tank. She is also survived by sister-in-law: Elizabeth Rudzinski; and nephews: Mischa & James Rudzinski of San Francisco, and niece: Martha Zoe Rudzinski of Portland Oregon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter, her parents, and her sisters Irene and Frances Nowakowski.
She will be remembered for her love of, and dedication to, her family and friends, pride in her career, a love of gardening, and her amazing kindness to others.
Friends are invited to gather with the family on Thursday, March 17, 2022, at St. Willebrord Parish, 209 S. Adams St., Green Bay, WI., 54301, with visitation from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm, funeral mass at 4:00 pm, and a meal immediately following the mass in the luncheon hall at St. Willebrord.

The family extends their most heartfelt gratitude to the staff members of McCormick Assisted Living in Green Bay, and St. Paul Elder Services in Kaukauna, specifically her care team, hospice staff, nurses and CNAs who were so instrumental in keeping her safe and comfortable. Their love and kindness have been a blessing.
