Frederick “Fred” L. Edwin, age 82, of the village of Howard, passed away Thursday, February 6, 2025 at Tender Hearts Assisted Living.
Fred was born February 22, 1942 in Marinette, son of the late Franklin and Marion (Belanger) Edwin. He attended Marinette High School. On September 8, 1962 he was united in marriage to the former Carol Nicklaus at Our Lady of Lourdes in Marinette. After their marriage, Carol and Fred moved to Green Bay.
Fred worked for Loch Construction and then the City of Green Bay Parks Department for 28 years until his retirement in 1999. Upon retirement from the City of Green Bay, Fred acquired the nickname of JJ or Job Jumper, as he couldn’t find a job he liked to fill his time until he became a crossing guard for the Green Bay Public School System.
Fred enjoyed spending time with his buddies attending happy hour at various establishments in Green Bay. He also enjoyed yelling at the TV while watching the Green Bay Packers and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years: Carol; his sons: Troy (Laura), Craig (Julie); grandchildren: Kelly (Craig), Abby, Brent, Hunter, Paige; great grandchildren: Harper, Lawrence, Kinsley, Hudson, Ilah, Everett; sisters: Marian, Nancy, Patti (Chummy), Mary Jane (Dave); brother: Steve; sister in law: Norma Philibeck and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents: Franklin and Marion Edwin; parents in law: August and Emily Nicklaus; sister-in-law: Peggy Edwin; brothers in law: Roger Figlinski, Dick Mikolajczak, Al Philibeck; nephew: Dale Philibeck.
The family would like to thank Unity Hospice, especially Tara, Karen, Lori and Steve as well as the entire staff of Tender Hearts Assisted Living for providing such compassionate care to Fred over the last year.
Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at the Lyndahl Funeral Home at 12:00 p.m. The family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home on Saturday, February 22, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services at 12:00 p.m.
