Gary Thyes Obituary

Gary L. Thyes, age 75, a resident of Little Suamico, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Green Bay.

He was born May 28, 1946 in Green Bay, son of the late Leland and Joyce (Wisniewski) Thyes. Gary attended Green Bay West High School, graduating with the class of 1964. He then attended Northeast Wisconsin Technical Institute, graduating with a degree in power engineering. Gary was employed with the West De Pere School District from 1980 until 1992 and then with Carver Yachts from 1994 until retiring in 2006. In his retirement, he served as the best delivery driver for GiVanni’s Pizza. In his younger years, Gary enjoyed bowling and snowmobiling. He served as a Boy Scout leader, coached and umped softball and baseball, and enjoyed watching and judging horse pulls. Gary also enjoyed deer hunting, racing, and spending time at Waubee Lodge in Lakewood. Above all, Gary loved his family and could always be seen at his grandchildren’s various sporting events and activities.

Gary is survived by the mother of his children: Mary Ann Thomson, Mesa, Arizona; his five children: Angela (Bill) Juneau, Oconomowoc, Lee (Kathy) Thyes, Pulaski, Sarah (Jack) Edwards, Little Suamico, Mary Jo (Dave) Moesch, Oneida, and Erik (Jenny) Thyes, Sobieski; six grandchildren: Leland Thyes, Kennedy Juneau, Haley (Nehemiah) Bex, Jenna Moesch (Matt Vadala), Jackson Moesch, and Landon Thyes; one great-granddaughter: Lainey Bex; two step-grandchildren: Xaviar and Caidance Belleau; four brothers: Frank (Patti) Thyes, Gerald (Laurie) Thyes, Randy (Laura) Thyes, and Dale (Gail) Thyes; three sisters: Bonnie (Roger) Rohloff, Connie (Greg) Urban, and Karen Robenhorst; and sister-in-law: Julie Thyes. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandson: Carter Jon Thyes; one brother: Kevin Thyes; and two special uncles: Eugene “Jumbo” Adamski and John “Jackie” Wisniewski.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 5, 2021 at Lyndahl Funeral Home, 1350 Lombardi Avenue, Green Bay. Following the service, Gary will be laid to rest at Elm Lawn Cemetery, Town of Maple Grove. The family will greet relatives and friends from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at Lyndahl Funeral Home.
