Gene (Geno, Anemal) Flaig Obituary

Gene (Geno, Anemal) Flaig, 68, of Ashwaubenon passed away June 2, 2021, at a local hospital following a long battle with several illnesses.  He was born in Shawano on October 28, 1952, son of Norma (Ruth) and Alvin Flaig.  He was an Ashwaubenon High School graduate, class of 1971.  He was drafted and served in the United States Army.  Throughout his life Geno worked as a semi-truck driver, auto mechanic, and several other jobs in the area. Geno married Jennie Willems in 1990.  His devotion to Jennie never ended, through her battle with MS, and after her passing in 2004. He also remained a full-time dad.  His son, Joey, returned that devotion, caregiving Geno in his later years.  Anemal was all about Harley-Davidson and the life that went with it. He was his own man and stayed true to himself to the end.  He was a biker, a pirate, a Viking, a cowboy, and above all else a kind, warm, wise, fun, and loving person who is dearly missed by all that knew him.

Geno is survived by his two sons: Jason (Jamie) Flaig, Sugar City, Idaho, and Joey Flaig, Ashwaubenon; his mother: Ruth, Ashwaubenon; one brother: Tim (Michelle) Flaig, Denmark; six grandchildren: Corrine, Paige, Serena, Brielle, McKay and Aspen and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Jennie; father: Alvin; sister: Sharon DeBruin and brother-in-law: Steve DeBruin.

The family was assisted by Lyndahl Funeral Home.  There were no services per Anemal’s request. A gathering in his memory will be held at a later date at his favorite place besides his home, Doc’s Harley-Davidson.

The family would like to thank the fourth floor, ICU, surgery, and therapy staff at Bellin Hospital, St. Vincent Hospital, Lakeland Care, Crossroads Care Center, Care 4 You, and Interim Health Care, therapy and transportation provider, and all the caregivers that cared for Geno.

“Never give up, never surrender!”
