Gerald “Gary” Francis VanEnkenvort, 83, of Green Bay passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at Bellin Hospital.
Gary was born on August 13, 1939 in Mill Center to the late Francis and Irene (Kuske) VanEnkenvort. He was a graduate of Green Bay West School. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He was proud to be an American and was a dedicated republican. On May 26, 1962, he married the former Judith “Judi” Lund. Over the years, Gary retired as a Detective with the Brown County Sheriff's Department. Gary was most proud of being the founder and president of Van’s Fire and Safety. Gary donated his first Van’s warehouse to the Ashwaubenon Girl’s Softball Association, which still stands today at Pioneer Park. He also started General Maintenance Torq Tools, obtained his real estate license.
Gary was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Green Bay. He enjoyed golfing, boating, opening weekend of deer camp, reminiscing about the earlier times in Eagle River, he loved family filled weekends on Crooked Lake and attending car shows. He and Judi also enjoyed spending time at their home in Fort Meyers Beach, FL. Gary loved mowing lawn, spending time with his family, and attending his grandchildren’s activities.
Gary is survived by his wife: Judi; children: Corey (Dawn) VanEnkenvort, Tina (George) Lambesis, and Mary (special friend Rod Martinson) Haen; grandchildren: Sarah (Brian), Melissa (Heath), Cole (Molly), George, Gabriella, Henry, Logan (Emerson), Lauren (Spencer), Levi, and Lily; great-grandchildren: Landon, and Emma; sister: Shirley Athey; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Tina (Ronnie) Weas, Jerry (DeeDee) Lund, and Susie Koop. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Gary was preceded by his parents; his brother-in-law: Al Athey; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
A funeral service to celebrate Gary’s life will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at 5:00 pm at Grace Lutheran Church, 321 S. Madison St., with Rev. Larry Lange officiating. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at the church from 2:00 pm and until the time of service at 5:00 pm. He will be laid to rest at Fort Howard Memorial Park.
