Ginney Amen Obituary

Virginia “Ginney” Amen, 103 ½, of Green Bay passed away on December 26, 2022.

Ginney was born on June 9, 1919, to Edward & Charlotte (Lottie) Paulson.  She was a graduate of Green Bay West High School. Ginney proudly worked as a Secretary at Green Bay Packaging. The second part of her life was devoted to volunteering.  Ginney was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Green Bay.  She LOVED reading to the students at Tank School where she always brought them an orange to eat.  She volunteered at her church faithfully.  She volunteered with Hospice, ironically, Hospice helped her at the end of her life.  She volunteered at Green Bay Historical Society, Neville Public Museum, Green Bay Botanical Gardens, Hazelwood, Heritage Hill, the Brown County Library, and The Wildlife Sanctuary.  Ginney was an active member of Jobs Daughters and Eastern Star.  She loved to bird watch with the Bird Club and enjoyed downhill skiing until she turned the young age of 90.  Ginney enjoyed time with many of her friends up in Door County.

Ginney is survived by her grandson, Luke (Heather) Pasterski, and granddaughter, Renny (Tim) Diedrich; her great-grandchildren Stephanie (Jon) DesChane and Parker (Morgan) Diedrich; her great-great-grandchildren Jack DesChane and Brooks DesChane; her grand puppies Halle & Sage Pasterski; and nieces Mary (Sonny) Lyon and Nancy (Michael) Housel-Braun: and nephews David (Dorie) Housel and Stephen (Cheri) Housel.  Ginney was preceded in death by her parents Edward & Lotte: her sisters Winifred and Hazel: and her daughter and son-in-law, Terry (Judd) Pasterski.

Ginney was a giver.  She was a true giver of her time, talents, and treasures.  She was always helping others and never wanted any help herself.  Ginney enjoyed spending time with her family.  She was always on the go.  If you wanted to get in touch with her, you needed to call before 8:00 am or after 10:00 pm.  She was busier in her retirement than in her working years.

The family would like to thank the precious angels at Unity Hospice, Bellin Hospital, Sage Meadow, and Woodside Oaks.  You have all made a difference in her life.

As she always said “Every day is a good day.  I have nothing to complain about.”

The family will have a celebration of her life on Ginny’s birthday, Friday June 9, 2023, from 9:00 am until 11:00 am at The Lyndahl Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1350 Lombardi Avenue, Green Bay. She will be buried next to her sister, Winifred, at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
