Howard “Howie” Dennis Knudtson, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, died peacefully at home on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at the age of 78. Howard was born December 10, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Milo and Lydia Knudtson and grew up in Mount Horeb, Wisconsin. On July 27, 1968, he married Louise Amundson, who passed away from cancer on February 8, 2012. Howard was blessed to again find love and joy through his faithful friendship with Jean Klatt Palomino, and they were united together on April 29, 2017.
Howard is mourned by daughters, Kimberley (Mike) Biese, Green Bay; and Kristine (Zach) Dunham, Kennewick, Washington. His four grandsons, Jacob and Luke Biese, and Cody and Jamie Dunham, will miss Papa K. but are grateful for the wonderful memories. He is also mourned by his wife Jean and daughter, Monica (Mark) Morrison; sisters, Helen Kahl and Linda (Ralph) Ovadahl; brother James (Dana) Knudtson; sister-in-law Kathy (Gerry) Brock, and many more family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Milo and Lydia Knudtson; his brother, Clifford Knudtson; his first loving wife, Louise Knudtson and her parents, Morris and Verna Amundson; his brother-in-law John Kahl and nephew Daniel Kahl.
Paramount in his life was Howard’s love of God, family, and country. As a Vietnam 101st Airborne Division and National Guard veteran, he selflessly served our country 15 years while also earning an education in business management and engineering. Howard worked 29 ½ years as a planning engineer with Ameritech. Throughout his life and in retirement, Howard had a passion for reading and writing, and he was most often found putting pen to paper. He also devoted time studying scripture, enjoying bible studies, and living out his faith. Howie cherished his visits with family and friends, and with a penchant for jokes, particularly Norwegian, he was always ready to spread a little joy with his smile and quick sense of humor.
The family expresses their gratitude to the Ashwaubenon Police Department and First Responders for their compassion and kindness towards our family.
Visitation will take place Saturday, September 10th at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 210 South Oneida Street, Green Bay from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor Paul Pett officiating. Online condolences may be expressed at www.lyndahl.com.
