James P. Holl (Jim), 87, of Green Bay passed away peacefully at home with his family on April 5th, 2026.
Jim was born on December 29, 1938, in Oconto to the late Matthew and Ella (Heiden) Holl in the middle of a snowstorm and grew up on a dairy farm in Wisconsin. He graduated from Gillett High School and went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Army with the 538th Engineer Battalion, stationed in Fort Knox, KY. He returned to Wisconsin and honed his skills as a cheesemaker at Alto Dairy for over 4 decades until his retirement. In 1965, he married the former Beverly Hansen at Bethel Lutheran Church in Gillett and they started a family. Jim liked gardening, classic cars, a good game of cards and fixing things large and small, often resurrecting bikes or lawnmowers or washing machines for friends and relatives. A beloved husband, father and friend, he will be missed.
Jim is survived by his children: Denise Holl and Dan (Bonnie) Holl; and grandson: Nathan Holl.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife: Beverly; his parents: Matthew and Ella Holl; mother-in-law: Alice Hansen, brothers-in-law Allen Hansen and Gary Hansen.
A service to celebrate Jim and Bev’s lives will be held on April 25th at Lyndahl Funeral Home, 1350 Lombardi Ave. Visitation for friends and relatives will be held from 9:30 to 11 with a service to follow. James will be laid to rest at Fort Howard Cemetery later.
