John R. Farr Sr.

John Radcliffe Farr, Sr., 87, of Green Bay passed away on Monday, August 12, 2024 at Oak Park Place in Menasha.

John was born on May 31, 1937 in Menominee, MI to the late Edward and Ruth (Reilly) Farr. He was a graduate of Green Bay West High School in 1955. John furthered his education at the University of Wisconsin Madison, graduating in 1959 with a Bachelor of Business Administration. On September 19, 1959, he married Janet Calawerts in Green Bay. Together they lived and raised their family in Green Bay and Cedarburg. John was a long time employee of National Can Corporation for over 23 years, and Crown and Cork & Seal Company for 12 years.

John cherished time with family and friends, supporting and attending his grandchildren’s activities, the annual summer trip with family to Copps Cabin in Northern Wisconsin, spending time with friends at the Moose Lodge, monthly gatherings with high school friends and lifelong friends from Cedarburg and Green Bay, and was an avid Packer fan.

John is survived by his wife of 64 years: Janet; sons: John (Teresa) Farr Jr. and Brian (Sherry) Farr; daughters: Laurie Kiffel and Sharon Farr; seven grandchildren: Michelle (David) Leiting, Matthew Farr, Ryan (Julia) Farr, Andrew (Beth) Farr, Megan (Andrew) Toivonen, Tyler Farr, and John Kiffel; one great-grandchild: Harper Leiting; brother: David (Kathie) Farr; and sister: Kathleen Shaha. He is further survived by many other relatives and friends. John was preceded in death by his parents; grandson: Eric Farr; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Emanuel “Monnie” and Romay Calawerts.

A funeral service to celebrate John’s life will be held on Monday, August 19, 2024 at 11:00 am at Grace Lutheran Church, 321 South Madison St., with Rev. Doug Holtz officiating. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Monday, August 19, 2024 at the church from 9:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. John will be laid to rest at the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.
